A Message from the Alumni Association President
Welcome faculty, staff, students, and alumni to another academic year at Â鶹´«Ã½!
I would like to introduce myself as the new President of the Alumni Association. As an alumnus of Â鶹´«Ã½ State, I am honored to serve this academic community. I was a member of the A Capella Choir and Psi Beta Honor Society during my time as a student here. This allowed me to make lifelong friends and sparked the love that continues today for Â鶹´«Ã½ State. I have been employed at Â鶹´«Ã½ State since 2005, first as a Career Coach and then as a Psychology Instructor.
In 2017, I became a lifetime member of the Alumni Association at Â鶹´«Ã½. As a member, it has allowed me to network with other alumni while giving back to students and the campuses. I encourage you to become a member and actively participate with the association to bring about the biggest impact. It is an honor to assist students while they complete their degree and succeed in their career goals. Let me highlight some of the ways to give back through the Alumni Association.
In a desire to give back to our campuses, the Alumni Association completed a Quad clean up on the Wallace Drive Campus. With collaboration from PTK, we planted bushes, laid straw, and laid commemorative bricks which can be purchased on our website. Additionally, the outdoor furniture in the Quad will be replaced with new metal benches and picnic tables. I was able to secure funding for the outdoor furniture through the Margin of Excellence Grant. I welcome you to visit the Quad to see how nice it is now for students to enjoy.
With a focus on students, the Alumni Association has begun a new student chapter for current students. With a low membership fee, this provides current students with a way to network and be connected in the Â鶹´«Ã½ State academic community. We have seen exciting interest from students and are eager to see this chapter grow. The Alumni Association also offers scholarships to current students throughout the academic year. Our Alumni Scholarships can be used towards tuition, fees, and books. For former students, the Alumni Association has events planned for program reunions over the next couple of years.
With the many activities planned for the upcoming academic year, I ask that you join the Alumni Association and become an active member. If you are already a member of the Alumni Association, thank you for all you do to make it successful.
Go Cardinals!
